Tandy Leather Factory Opens Retail Store in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Tandy Leather Factory, Inc. (AMEX: TLF) announced today that it has opened a new retail store in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. This is the first new store opening in 2010 and brings the number of Tandy Leather retail stores to 76. The new store is located at 210-2750 Faithfull Avenue in Saskatoon and is open for business this week.

Chief Executive Officer, Jon Thompson, commented, “We expect our store openings in 2010 to be limited to one or two stores as we give the economic environments in the US and Canada a little more time to strengthen. Nonetheless, we are looking at locations that have a good chance of being successful even in a weak economy and Saskatchewan is one of those locations. We believe having a local presence will further expand an already growing customer base there. Kazi Shujah will be managing the new store. He trained in our Calgary store and has extensive retail management experience in several industries as well as a strong customer-service background.”

Morgan, one of the Company’s founders and former Company director and officer, has adopted a pre-arranged stock sales plan in accordance with Rule 10b5-1 of the Securities and Exchange Act of 1934, as amended. Ground has been broken on the new ecologically friendly model factory in Saigon, Vietnam of the Germany/Chinese leather producer ISA Tan Tec. Founder and CEO Thomas Schneider gave the go-ahead for the construction of a tannery that will emit 35 percent less CO2 than conventional production facilities. This figure is derived from the plants CO2 footprint, which is based on the carbon dioxide emissions for each square meter of leather produced. "This is the only factory in the industry of this size that is pursuing such an ambitious environmental plan," remarked Thomas Schneider. The new tannery will start operations in June of 2009 with 280 employees producing two million square meters of high-quality leather each year.

G-III Apparel Group, Ltd. (NasdaqGSM: GIII) announced earlier this week that it has acquired certain assets of Wilsons The Leather Experts (Nasdaq: WLSN), a national retailer of leather outerwear and accessories. The assets acquired included 116 outlet store locations, $18.5 million in inventory, distribution center operations and the Wilsons name and other related trademarks and trade names. G-III noted that the total purchase price for the assets acquired was approximately $22.3 million in cash.

Tandy Leather Factory, Inc. (AMEX: TLF) reported yesterday that sales for the month of April were $4.7 million, up 10% from April 2007 sales of $4.3 million. Year to date sales are down 4% to $18.0 million in the current year from $18.9 million last year. Tandys new UK store, which opened in mid-February, reported April sales of $42,000.

Burrows to Grace Shearling in 2008 Fall Collection

On the heels of his recent move downtown to 209 West 38th street, centralizing his showroom and offices in one location, Stephen Burrows has signed a License deal with New York based Largewood R.E Management Corporation to design a Shearling Collection.

The collection named Stephen Burrows for MoLaJe" will be unveiled with Mr. Burrows' Fall collection presentation on Feb. 5th at his new showroom.

Comprised of bomber styles, capes and full length pieces in Natural colors, along with metallic backed suedes, the collection of shearling coats and jackets is inspired by Burrows' earlier work for Henri Bendel.

"The Lux of the hides and the colors are inspiring to my design aesthetic and I love the natural finish it creates. There is something very raw and sensual about it," Burrows said.

Colors are Natural, pebbled metallics, in gold, silver, red, black, brown and tipped animal pattern.

The shearling collection is targeting major department stores and specialty stores in the USA, Canada, and Europe. Price points begin at $1200.

Six years ago Burrows designed a well received capsule shearling collection for Henri Bendel.
