Look to Invest in Vietnam Cotton Sector

Viet Nam Cotton and Spinning Association (Vcosa) said many foreign enterprises from Taiwan, mainland China, Korea and Japan have flocked to HCM City to look into investing in the domestic spinning industry for the past few months.The companies felt they could benefit from tax exemptions or reductions as Viet Nam begins implementation of the Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement (TPP), said the association.
The agreement, which was signed last November, allows members to enjoy a zero tax rate by 2015.

China Linen Textile Industry, Ltd. (OTCQB: CTXIF) one of China's leading linen fabric and linen yarn producers and exporters, today announced that the executive management team, including the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer Ren Gao, Chief Financial Officer Jodie Zheng Wehner, Vice General Manager Yongfeng Ma have increased their ownership by approximately 70,000 shares or 1.2% of total outstanding shares purchased in the open market, at an average price of $2.42. Since China Linen is a foreign private issuer, its officers and directors are not subject to Section 16 of the Securities Act of 1934 and therefore are not required to file a Form 4 in connection with acquisitions of China Linen's stock.
"The purchases in the last quarter have been approved by the Board and reflect the shared confidence we have in China Linen's long-term opportunity to be one of the leading pure linen fabric providers in the world," Mr. Ren Gao, CEO and Chairman of China Linen commented. "We plan to consistently purchase in the coming quarters should China Linen's stock price stay at a deeply discounted value of our operations."

The Company is also involved in consultation and R&D related to linen technology and linen products. The Company carries on all of its business activities through its subsidiary, Heilongjiang Lanxi Sunrise Linen Textile Industry Co., Ltd. ("Lanxi Sunrise"), established in June 2002 and located in Lanxi County, the "Homeland of Flax in China," near Harbin City in China. Lanxi Sunrise has one yarn-spinning factory, one bleaching factory and two fabric weaving factories in its 35,120 square meters of building area with a staff of 1,400 and 430 sets of world-class, advanced production machinery. Hancock Fabrics, Inc. (OTC symbol: HKFI) recently announced financial results for its first quarter ended May 1, 2010.
Financial highlights for the first quarter include:
- Net sales for the quarter were $63.1 million compared to $64.1 million for first quarter of last year, and comparable store sales decreased 2.0% compared to a 2.3% increase in the previous year.
- Operating income was $17,000 in the quarter compared to $0.6 million in the first quarter last year.
- Net loss was $1.3 million, or $0.07 per basic share, in the first quarter of fiscal 2010 compared to a loss of $0.9 million, or $0.05 per share in the first quarter of fiscal 2009.
- Adjusted EBITDA for the quarter was $1.6 million, a decrease of $0.6 million over the same period last fiscal year.
- The amount of cash generated from operations before reorganization activities increased by $146,000 to $2.1 million during the quarter.
- Inventories have been reduced by $7.6 million compared to the same period last year, ending the quarter at $93.0 million.
- At quarter end, the Company had outstanding borrowings under its revolving line of credit of $13.7 million and outstanding letters of credit of $7.7 million. The Company increased its borrowings by $102,000 during the quarter. Additional amounts available to borrow under its revolving line of credit at the end of the quarter were $43.5 million. The balance of the Company’s subordinate debt was $21.6 million at quarter end, and the warrant discount on this debt was $7.6 million.
