Culp Regains Compliance with NYSE Listing Standards : Textile News

Culp, Inc. (NYSE: CFI) yesterday announced it received notification on January 29, 2010, from the New York Stock Exchange (“NYSE”) that Culp has regained compliance with the NYSE’s quantitative continued listing standards. Culp received a letter of noncompliance from the NYSE in December 2008, notifying the company that it had fallen below both the minimum shareholders’ equity and market capitalization requirements for continued listing on the NYSE. Culp’s reinstatement to compliance comes as a result of the company’s consistent, positive performance commensurate with the business plan submitted to the NYSE, and its compliance with the NYSE’s minimum market capitalization and shareholders’ equity requirements over the past two quarters.

About the Company

Culp, Inc. is one of the world’s largest marketers of mattress fabrics for bedding and upholstery fabrics for furniture. The company’s fabrics are used principally in the production of bedding products and residential and commercial upholstered furniture.

If you work in the fashion industry, you are well aware that the quality of garments is extremely important.  Therefore, our quality assurance policies must be strict and well disiplined.  There is only way way to truly be certain that the quality of your clothing and fabric is meeting the desired standards.  All apparel manufacturers should do "quality testing".
So, now that we are in agreement that testing is a requirement, we must decide where to conduct testing.  Many manufacturers do their own private testing.  However, Apparel Search suggests using third party testing facilities.  The reason that Apparel Search suggests using third party resources is that "testing" is there primary business.  In addition, because the test "result" does not effect their business directly, they can be very fair in regard to the testing result.  They are not bias in any way.

Textile testing services expanded with state-of-the-art facility in Arlington Heights, IL

While consumers have always looked for safety, quality and performance in apparel and soft home products, impending regulatory changes can pose confusion for textile manufacturers, distributors and retailers. Intertek, a leading global quality and solutions provider for a wide range of industries, has invested in moving its textile testing capabilities from its Springfield, NJ operation to its Arlington Heights, IL facility for this very reason – to more efficiently serve the changing business climate through increased capacity to cater to changing customer needs for compliance.

Flocking is a decorative detail in clothing in which raised pieces of cloth are applied to the surface in a particular pattern by using an adhesive.  A flocked finish allows you to create among other things, a professional looking suede like lining or finish.  Flocking can be used for t-shirt designs or other embellishment for clothing and fashion accessories.

The application of Flocking is a rather simple process. However, it can be a very messy process.  If you plan on doing flocking yourself it is highly suggested that you wear some sort of dust mask.

Schoeller Technologies Awarded for Research and Developments in the Textile Industry

On 6 November
Schoeller Technologies has been awarded with the Textile Design Award 2009 for research and development in textile sector. coldblack(R) is the result of a close cooperation between Schoeller and Clariant International.

coldblack(R) represents a practically invisible but enormously useful design achievement," said juror Daniel Zehntner. "One that deserves to be known and recognised in the highest degree. The twofold protective function of this innovative high-tech textile treatment is a technical masterstroke with extensive practical relevance in the fields of design and preventive health care". coldblack(R) is a new textile finishing with a double benefit: It reduces the absorption of solar rays so that dark textiles, in  particular, heat up significantly less when exposed to sunlight. And it provides reliable protection from damaging UV rays. All textiles with coldblack(R) feature a UV protection factor of at least 30. "This award is the third within one year", states Hans U. Kohn, COO from Schoeller Technologies. Thomas Winkler, Head Textile Business from Clariant, confirms, "Within short time, we have recorded a large number of manufacturing partners that are developing products with coldblack(R)." coldblack(R) is ideal for all types of clothing worn in sunny weather. Currently, tests are being conducted for car seats and garden furniture.
