International eyewear brand Magrabi Optical has opened its first store in Akmerkez, İstanbul following the successful acquisition of Şişli Optik Ticaret A.Ş ('Sisli'). The completed transaction marks Magrabi Optical's first acquisition outside the MENA region and the start of a strategic initiative to expand into select emerging markets.  

Los Angeles premium denim brand Citizens of Humanity will launch e-commerce in both the United States and Japan, shipping respectively.  The website will include the women's and men's Holiday 2013 collections complimented by a selection of exclusive products such as limited edition merchandise from the brand's "Just Like You" philanthropic film collaborations.

Retailer To Open First of Three Canadian Locations at Yorkdale Shopping Centre

Chico's FAS, Inc. announces the company's international expansion with White House Black Market's (WH|BM) first Canadian boutique opening at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, Toronto on October 24th.  The women's retailer will open its second international location at Square One, Mississauga on October 29th, followed by Upper Canada Mall, Newmarket on November 12th. Yorkdale Shopping Centre and Square One are owned by Oxford Properties Group and Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo).Upper Canada Mall is owned by Oxford Properties Group and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB).

Building on plans to expand its market share in North America, Marimekko announces a series of new shop-in-shop locations in some of the region's most notable department and specialty home stores. ShangPin.com, the first online retailer of authorized designers and contemporary fashions, recently held a fashion show that exclusively featured more than one hundred European and North American high-end designer brands. This is the first and only baptism here in China with all those fashion brands in attendance introduced by the Chinese online retailer. The fashion show revealed the latest designer clothing, bags, shoes and accessories. Katherine Hooker will debut her latest collection of coats and jackets this October with the opening of a U.S. pop-up shop in New York City beginning October 5th. The Soho shop is located at 436 West Broadway and will run through October 14th. The shop is Hooker's only brick and mortar retail presence outside of her flagship in London's Chelsea neighborhood. Starting today, Nordstrom will begin selling the hot British fashion brand TOPSHOP and TOPMAN at 14 select Nordstrom stores across the country and on nordstrom.com.

Impressive online shopping sales figures in China demonstrate that Chinese online fashion retailers such as Xiu.com have revived not only the European fashion industry but also the global fashion industry.

Amazing sales figures

Xiu.com, a leading online fashion retailer in China, recently released its 2012 interim sales performance figures. Its sales revenue has tripled, with 80% of its sales brought in from imported brands. In contrast to Xiu.com's rapid (geometric) growth, Net-a-porter, a pioneering premier luxury online fashion retailer, announced a deteriorating sales trend that began in April 2012.

Company acquires 100% of Bixti and opens an office in Buenos Aires

Elo7, the first and largest marketplace for buying and selling handcrafted products in Brazil, announces its expansion in Latin America through the acquisition of Bixti, the leading marketplace for handcrafted products in Argentina. As part of the transaction Bixti co-founders Alexis and Marina Caporale will join Elo7 along with the whole Bixti team. Carlos Augusto de Araujo, the COO of Elo7's Brazilian operation, will lead the regional operation.

Mood Media, parent company of Muzak and DMX and the world's leading in-store media solutions provider, today announced that it will further expand its presence in the Chinese market through a new agreement with Esprit. Starting in July, Mood Media will provide Esprit stores in Mainland China with a custom music program, via its IP based media player.

Announces plans to acquire Japanese business from joint venture partner

As part of a steady international push, Kate Spade New York (ksny) announces today that it intends to buy its Japanese joint venture partner, Sanei International, out of their 51 percent share in the jointly owned company, Kate Spade Japan. This is part of a robust international expansion, which includes recent store openings in the UK, Dubai, and Kuwait as well as further expansion into Brazil with additional store openings in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo planned for this summer.
