Konica Minolta IJ Technologies, Inc. announced the launch of Nassenger VII, a high-speed inkjet textile printer equipped with newly developed high-performance inkjet printheads. Sales of the printer will begin in the European market in mid-April, 2009.

The new Nassenger VII, is characterized by newly developed 512-nozzle high-speed drive inkjet printheads to deliver a maximum print speed of 210 square meters per hour (about 3.6 times faster than its predecessor, Nassenger V) making it one of the fastest inkjet textile printers in the world. This printing speed allows Nassenger VII to be highly productive, comfortably meeting the needs of print works for short-run production of a variety of printing in small lots. Furthermore, equipped with a multi-gradation recording mode to control droplet size, the new printer enables the reproduction of a wide range of tones from the lightest to the darkest. Whereas it is quite difficult to produce a subtle gradation using the conventional screen textile printing, the new mode allows users to meet varying design needs of the textile industry while ensuring high-quality printing.

Alpha Pro Tech (NYSE Amex: APT) a leading manufacturer of products designed to protect people, products and environments, including disposable protective apparel and building products, today announced that it has signed a three year renewable private label manufacturing contract with a Fortune 1,000 company. The Company expects to begin sales to this customer in the second quarter of 2009.

(NYSE: LIZ), today announced that they have entered into a Buying Agency Agreement whereby Li & Fung will act as the primary global apparel sourcing agent for the MEXX brand. Mexx's existing buying offices, which will be integrated into the Li & Fung organization, are located in Hong Kong, Bangalore, Shanghai and Shenzhen. Completion of the deal is expected to take place by 19 December 2008.

Avery Dennison, the leading global manufacturer of labels and printing systems for the textile apparel industry,  has launched its new “Designer Collection Autumn/Winter 2009/2010.”


Created by designers from Germany, France and the U.S., the collection was launched the week of September 1, 2008 at the Munich Fabric Start, in the Munich MOC, and at Tissu Premier, in Lille, France.

Ground has been broken on the new ecologically friendly model factory in Saigon, Vietnam of the Germany/Chinese leather producer ISA Tan Tec. Founder and CEO Thomas Schneider gave the go-ahead for the construction of a tannery that will emit 35 percent less CO2 than conventional production facilities. This figure is derived from the plants CO2 footprint, which is based on the carbon dioxide emissions for each square meter of leather produced. "This is the only factory in the industry of this size that is pursuing such an ambitious environmental plan," remarked Thomas Schneider. The new tannery will start operations in June of 2009 with 280 employees producing two million square meters of high-quality leather each year.

Talon International Reports Second Quarter 2008 Financial Results

Talon International, Inc. (OTC BB:TALN.OB - News), a leading global supplier of apparel accessories including Talon zippers, fasteners, trim and interlining products, reported financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2008.
Second Quarter 2008 Highlights

--  Talon zipper sales up 37% vs. Q2 2007
--  Net sales for the quarter $17.0 million, up 26% vs. Q2 2007
--  Net income of $0.6 million, up 22% vs. Q2 2007

Second Quarter 2008 Financial Results

Net sales for the second quarter of 2008 were $17.0 million, an increase of 26% from $13.6 million in the second quarter of 2007. The revenue reflects continued growth within Southeast Asia and within new brands and program sales of Talon Zipper and Trim products. Talon Zipper sales increased $3.1 million, or 37%, to $11.4 million in the quarter, as compared to the same period a year ago. Talon Trim sales increased $0.6 million, or 12%, to $5.5 million as compared to the same period a year ago. Tekfit waistband sales were as anticipated, $0.2 million less than in the same period in 2007.

The North American manufacturing industry is under intense pressure to compete against lower-cost global regions and stop the migration of production work to overseas firms.
