Seattle-based Nordstrom, Inc. announced today plans to open a new Nordstrom Rack in Willow Grove, Pa. outside of Philadelphia. The new 40,000 square-foot store is scheduled to open during spring 2012 at Willow Grove Park.

Nordstrom Refinances Revolving Credit Facility

Nordstrom, Inc. announced yesterday that it has completed a new five-year $600 million senior unsecured revolving credit facility. The new facility replaces a $650 million senior unsecured revolving credit facility that was scheduled to mature in August 2012.

Effective today, the facility may be used for general corporate purposes and is scheduled to mature in June 2016. At present, there are no outstanding borrowings under the revolver.

The arrangement of the revolving credit facility was co-led by Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Wells Fargo Securities, LLC.

Nordstrom today announced plans to close its Circle Centre store in downtown Indianapolis, Ind. Originally opened September 8, 1995, the 216,000-square foot store will close to the public at the end of business on July 31, 2011. The company will continue to operate a nearby location at The Fashion Mall at Keystone and is opening a new Nordstrom Rack store at the Shops at Rivers Edge on September 15, 2011.

Nordstrom, Inc. announced today that it is recognizing Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in 2011 by teaming up with Hep B Free and OCA to help raise awareness of the importance of getting tested for hepatitis B—the leading cause of liver cancer and one of the greatest health disparities facing the Asian Pacific American community.

Leading fashion specialty retailer Nordstrom opened the doors to its new store in Newark, Delaware today at Christiana Mall. The 123,000 square-foot store is the first Nordstrom store in Delaware and will offer a well-edited selection of quality, luxury and designer fashion brands for women, men and children.

Seattle-based Nordstrom, Inc. today announced plans to open a Nordstrom Rack in Boise, Idaho. The 37,000 square-foot store will be part of the Boise Towne Plaza shopping center and is expected to open spring 2012.

As part of its ongoing commitment to giving back to communities, Nordstrom has expanded its annual scholarship program to now offer $10,000 college scholarships to 80 outstanding high school students around the country – double the number of scholarships available in previous years. The program's expansion now makes students in every state where Nordstrom has a full-line store eligible to apply for the awards.

Nordstrom Reports January 2011 Sales

Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE: JWN) today reported a 4.8 percent increase in same-store sales for the four-week period ended January 29, 2011 compared with the four-week period ended January 30, 2010. Preliminary total retail sales of $607 million for January 2011 increased 11.8 percent compared with total retail sales of $543 million for the same period in fiscal 2009.

Fourth quarter same-store sales increased 6.7 percent compared with the same period in fiscal 2009. Preliminary fourth quarter total retail sales of $2.82 billion increased 10.9 percent compared with total retail sales of $2.54 billion for the same period in fiscal 2009.

Fiscal year 2010 same-store sales increased 8.1 percent compared with fiscal 2009. Preliminary fiscal year 2010 total retail sales of $9.31 billion increased 12.7 percent compared with total retail sales of $8.26 billion for fiscal year 2009.

Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE:JWN) today reported an 8.4 percent increase in same-store sales for the five-week period ended January 1, 2011 compared with the five-week period ended January 2, 2010. Preliminary total retail sales of $1.39 billion for December 2010 increased 11.9 percent compared with total retail sales of $1.25 billion for the same period in fiscal 2009.

Quarter-to-date same-store sales increased 7.2 percent compared with the same period in fiscal 2009. Preliminary quarter-to-date total retail sales of $2.21 billion increased 10.7 percent compared with total retail sales of $2.00 billion for the same period in fiscal 2009.

Year-to-date same-store sales increased 8.3 percent compared with the same period in fiscal 2009. Preliminary year-to-date total retail sales of $8.70 billion increased 12.8 percent compared with total retail sales of $7.72 billion for the same period in fiscal 2009.

Peek...Aren't You Curious and Nordstrom announced today a partnership to begin offering Peek merchandise in Nordstrom stores and on nordstrom.com. Nordstrom will be the exclusive retailer for Peek merchandise outside of Peek's six stand-alone stores and online at peekkids.com. By investing in the company, Nordstrom also becomes a minority shareholder in Peek, a company that designs, makes and sells children's apparel, gifts and other treasures.

A new Nordstrom Rack is scheduled to open fall 2011 at Cascade Plaza in Tigard, Ore., Seattle-based Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE: JWN) announced today.

The 45,000 square-foot store will be centrally located in one of the most vibrant shopping locations in the Portland area, easily accessible from Highway 217 and about a mile from the Nordstrom Washington Square full-line store. The new store will further strengthen the Nordstrom Rack presence in the area, joining the Tanasbourne, Clackamas and downtown Portland Rack stores.

Nordstrom, Inc. Appoints Two New Directors

Seattle-based Nordstrom, Inc. announced recently the appointment of Felicia D. Thornton and B. Kevin Turner to the company's Board of Directors, effective November 16, 2010.

Ms. Thornton is Chief Executive Officer/U.S. of Knowledge Universe, a global education company based in Portland, Ore.  As CEO/U.S. of Knowledge Universe, Ms. Thornton oversees strategy and operations for multiple business lines including KinderCare Learning Centers, Children's Creative Learning Centers and Champions Extended Learning.  She will serve as a member of the Nordstrom Board's Audit Committee and Finance Committee.

Mr. Turner is Chief Operating Officer of Microsoft, the worldwide leader in software, services and solutions that help people and businesses realize their full potential.  As Microsoft's COO, he is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of Microsoft's worldwide sales, marketing, and services organization.  Mr. Turner will serve on the Compensation Committee and Finance Committee for the Nordstrom Board.

Nordstrom Rack will open its first Indianapolis, Ind. store at the Rivers Edge shopping center, Seattle-based Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE: JWN) announced today. The new 35,000 square-foot Rack is expected to open in fall 2011.

Nordstrom Rack to Open in South Austin

Seattle-based Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE: JWN) today announced plans to open a Nordstrom Rack in Sunset Valley, Texas during spring 2011. The 34,040 square-foot store will be part of the Sunset Valley Village shopping center, allowing the retailer to better serve its South Austin area customers.

Seattle-based Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE: JWN) has recently announced plans to open its first Nordstrom Rack in Annapolis, Md. at Annapolis Harbour Center. The 32,230 square-foot store is expected to open in spring 2011.

Seattle-based Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE: JWN) announced plans to relocate its Spokane-area Nordstrom Rack from Northtown Mall in Spokane, Wash. to Spokane Valley Plaza in Spokane Valley, Wash.

 The relocated Nordstrom Rack is scheduled to open October 28, 2010.

Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE: JWN) today reported net earnings of $116 million, or $0.52 per diluted share, for the first quarter ended May 1, 2010. This represented an increase of 43.8 percent compared with net earnings of $81 million, or $0.37 per diluted share, for the same quarter last year.

First quarter same-store sales increased 12.0 percent compared with the same period in fiscal 2009. Net sales in the first quarter were $1.99 billion, an increase of 16.7 percent compared with net sales of $1.71 billion during the same period in fiscal 2009.
