Marithè & François Girbaud
Stellar chaos. Multidimensional galactic universe. Cosmos unveiling endlessly. Twinkling sky. In this sky, GIR+A&F constellation. A circle, stars. Supernova.
Here the star, recurrent and everywhere present, is not esthetical nor anecdotal, but a building element which has gradually established itself in an obvious way. The blown out traditional clothing design, from now on has given way to one single circular piece from which arrows dart away, tirelessly dash off in all directions, shoot up like fireworks, delivering completely new volumes constellation like.
The star is inherent. Strategic in the first place, it consequently turns naturally figurative. Emblematic.
In this collection imbued with nonchalance, volume is honoured. It is unbridled, wild, elusive and freed from any constraints. It whirls around. The challenge? Control it in 1001 ways, seize it, subdue it.
Thus parkas dance, crease, unfold. Hoods suddenly turn into wide necklines, military spirit gives way to a plain gabardine, and the Tibetan goat shearling reversible model can be either a sober three quarter leather or an elegant fur wrap.
On the jackets and coats, the classical facings are blown away, the excess material is puckered or gathered.
The same goes for cardigans : long, short, they are worn unconstructed, with a twisted loose-knit as if entangled, purposely dripping down.
As for the waist it is not decided, it plays, high, low, trompe-l’oeil is puzzling, threading their way here and there through the material, play straps and the material are almost merged into one.
Pants want something new. In a cubical spirit, they also quietly revolutionize themselves: no more embroidered pockets, no more fly, no more traditional lengthy sewing, it reinvents itself as one single piece and revolves around the star, new buttoning, bias pockets. Kendo hakama, pantdress letting go its frothy material folded from the top of the thigh, cleverly skipping heaviness around the hips.
Completely new jodhpurs, facetious, its volume being moved, no longer basically on the side, it is shifted: on the front, with the star unfolding like an origami bird at the key point of the body, on the legs, with a knee aperture, at the back, with a bustle; as for the calves, they are crocheted and zipped-up.
Laser treatment is up to mischief again : on leather it sifts through boots and ankle-boots. It associates also with a totally innovative material, corn fibre. This association produces origami light petticoats, steady, sheared, brightly edgy, slight and refreshing spots of colours in a dark sky, winking at the waking
of Spring, reminding that there are no more seasons.
More cheery strokes, aerial dashes, the light shirts with puff sleeves and the thin knit dresses, so light, worn with shoes very similar to Girbox thaï and motocycle boots… to prevent them from flying off.
Shake-up. Questioning. Supernova has come by. This fashion article has been provided to the Fashion Newspaper by our friends at http://www.sfilate.com
