Let's be honest about it, every so often all men grow tired with the way that they're looking. Whether you'd like to change up your entire wardrobe and throw away some of your old clothes, or if it's something else about your physical appearance - for instance your hair - that you'd like to change, chances are you're not the only guy thinking that way.
However, it can be hard for men to find the time to make such a drastic change to their appearance - particularly if they're busy with work or all other manner of everyday tasks that they have to get through. That being said, it's impossible to hide from the inevitable, and one of the best times of the year that a man can change up his style is right at the start of the year.
Think about it, by starting early you can hone your style to perfection for the better weather coming in throughout the summer, or if you hit the nail on the head right away, you'll be looking your best by the tail end of winter and beginning of spring.
But how best to go about it? Well, if you're going to make any sort of changes to your appearance, it's better to plan them out before you go ahead and make them. Not only will this avoid any style disasters, it'll stop you from making any changes to your appearance that you might like for a couple of days, but go off of very quickly.
Once you've planned out what changes you'd like to make, it's time to act upon them. A good place to start would be the aforementioned revamp of your wardrobe. By studying various men's magazines and looking on the websites and in the stores of high street retailers you should be able to gain an understanding of what's fashionable and what isn't this season. However, it's important not to purchase anything that you either won't feel comfortable in, or that doesn't suit you. There's nothing worse than a man trying to make a fashionable item work when it just isn't "them". Luckily, high street fashion caters to so many different styles now that it shouldn't be too hard to find something cool that flatters you and goes with your general demeanour and style.
Many men might also be looking to become a bit smarter over the coming year, and as such they may be looking for more formal wear, such as mens suits, smart shirts and formal trousers. There are plenty of smart clothes available at the moment that just happen to be right on trend for formal occasions or even just nights out, and could be just the ticket for smartening up your look.
After you've revamped your wardrobe (or at least smartened it up) you could find that you need to update your aesthetic appearance a little bit further to make it work. For instance, if you're going for a look that's smart and incorporates a lot of formal wear, then it might not work as well if you've got long hair and a scruffy beard. Alternatively, if you're going for more of a laid back look, or want to look like a bit of a rocker, a short back and sides might not be the most flattering haircut for you. It's all fairly subjective, but by using a bit of common sense and style savvy you should be able to figure out what kind of haircut will work best with your revamped wardrobe.
At the end of the day, if you're unhappy with the way you look and want to change your style up a little, then there isn't really a better time to do it than the start of the year. If you can get it right within the first couple of months, this year could see you looking more stylish than ever.
