But which of 2008's discoveries were the absolute sweetest? Yesterday Monday, December 22, DailyCandy revealed the editors' top picks of 2008 as part of this year's Sweetest Things Awards. And readers will get the chance to vote for whom they think should win!

All year long, DailyCandy celebrates excellence in the realms of food, fashion, home, travel, and more. Today, DailyCandy honors its favorites nationwide and in each DailyCandy city with the Second Annual DailyCandy Sweetest Things Awards. Three nominees in each of five categories -- Advice, Bite, Nest, Pamper, and Style -- were announced in 13 daily editions (12 city editions and the national Everywhere edition). Readers can vote online for their favorites now through January 16. Winners of all categories will be revealed in DailyCandy's e-mails on Thursday, January 29, 2009.

    "Our readers are smart and savvy women who are passionate about the latest and greatest, just like we are," said Eve Epstein, editor-in-chief of DailyCandy. "They are the tastemakers who influence the trends in their cities, so we can't wait to see who they choose as the sweetest locally and nationally."

    All of DailyCandy's 2008 discoveries were considered prior to nomination. The categories are:

    --  ADVICE: The best teachers, services, and experts of the year.
    --  BITE: The hottest new chefs, bakers, and other foodie front-runners.
    --  NEST: Swoon-worthy home decor experts and interior designers.
    --  PAMPER: Spa services, soothing aromatherapists, and other purveyors of all things luxury.
    --  STYLE: The most innovative, inspiring, and promising designers and boutiques in the country.
