This year, the overall consumption of children's wear is experiencing a gradual decline. Under a gloomy prospect for the economy, consumer confidence has fallen which reflects directly in clothing sales.

    Small scale manufactures in Children's clothing have suffered a great deal under the economic downturn, as these are mostly small- and medium-sized enterprises with low anti-risk ability. A slight downturn in sales may cause inventory pressures which eventually lead to problems with capital, and becomes a matter of survival for some children's wear producers.

    In 2007, venture capital favoured some traditional industries which also benefited children's clothing manufacturers. The financing channel has become narrower in 2008. Children's clothing rely on dealers as the main sales channels, a relatively restricted distribution channel when compared to adult brands. The decrease in consumption has led dealers to quickly adjust their own resources and strategies, which put children's wear distributions in an
even more difficult situation.

    Himfr.com's analyst predicts that in 2009, people will go to the more professional markets to buy goods that come in lower prices and higher quality; retail and wholesale markets will be more focused on by consumers, and quality will remain the ultimate standard to measure
clothing. Network sales will be another children's clothing sales growth area to be considered by the majority of children's clothing brands. At the same time, Himfr.com's analyst forecasts that in 2009, mergers are likely.

    In 2009, the overall development of children's wear will be in a slow pace, and although children's clothing will remain a key retail business, the market will be in a downward trend depending on the general economy status. 2009 will be a challenging year for children's clothing enterprises.
