Grunge has never looked so good.

Esoterik Enterprise -- a clothing line than fuses haute with hot -- is now available to the masses through its runway-style online outlet.

The line currently includes t-shirts, hooded sweatshirts, tank tops and booty shorts with bold graphics and an urban sensibility. The pieces are inspired by modern architecture, contemporary design, music, people, places, and time.

"As of right now we are just scratching the surface," says Stacey Nichols, who co-founded the company two years ago with Mike Allard. "Esoterik is not destined for the same somber road as so many start-ups before it. Esoterik is a chameleon, in a constant state of evolution and adaptation."

Esoterik's line will be ever-changing and expanding. Soon to be offered: dresses, hats, long sleeve button ups, dressy sports coats for guys and jeans "that will shatter your perceptions of bleeding-edge fashion," says Allard.

"These jeans will look like victims of collateral damage, as if shrapnel from a hand grenade has ruthlessly decimated a once 'good' pair of jeans. Dye and bleach will torment the fibers into a proper interpretation of haute," he says.

Nichols and Allard began Esoterik as a weekend hobby while college students in Colorado. They buy the clothes from a California manufacturer, and then do the work of distressing them, adding designs and ultimately distributing the pieces through their Web site.

From humble beginnings, Esoterik is now a standout in the fashion industry. BusinessWeek recently picked Nichols and Allard as 2008 finalists in its roundup of America's Best Young Entrepreneurs.
