Joe Gromek, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Warnaco Group, Inc. (NYSE: WRC), announced today that Helen McCluskey has been appointed Chief Operating Officer. Ms. McCluskey previously served as Warnaco's Group President-Intimate Apparel and Swimwear.

Ms. McCluskey, 55, will report to Mr. Gromek who will continue to focus on Warnaco's brand portfolio, strategic direction, and the execution of its long-term growth plan.

Mr. Gromek said, "Since arriving at Warnaco in 2004, Helen has demonstrated extraordinary leadership skills that have facilitated our ability to strengthen and expand our brands, drive growth, and help us create shareholder value. Given her extensive industry experience, knowledge of our business, and proven track record, I believe Helen is the right executive at the right time to take on this new role and these expanded responsibilities as we look confidently to Warnaco's future."

Ms. McCluskey joined Warnaco in July 2004 as Group President - U.S. Intimate Apparel and in 2005 added responsibility for Calvin Klein Underwear(R). In June 2007, she assumed global responsibility for the Company's Swimwear brands. With today's announcement, Ms. McCluskey will also be responsible for oversight of the Calvin Klein Jeans(R) and Chaps(R) brands as well as all of Warnaco's international businesses, and Warnaco's global supply chain and sourcing operations.

Mr. Gromek also announced today that Martha Olson will succeed Ms. McCluskey as Warnaco's Group President - Intimate Apparel and Swimwear. Ms. Olson, 55, had been President of Warnaco's Calvin Klein Underwear U.S. and Core Brands. Ms. Olson joined Warnaco in 2004 as President, Core Brands and added Calvin Klein Underwear to her responsibilities in 2008.

Prior to joining Warnaco, Ms. McCluskey served as Group President of the Moderate Women's Sportswear division of Liz Claiborne Corporation. Previously, she spent 18 years in Sara Lee Corporation's intimate apparel units. She held executive positions in marketing, operations and general management, including President of Playtex Apparel from 1999 to 2001.

Prior to joining Warnaco, Ms. Olson worked for Edison Schools, Inc. from 2002 to 2004 and prior to that she worked at Sara Lee Corporation from 1992 to 2001.
