Macys, Inc. (NYSE:M) today announced plans to open three new Macys stores in the Phoenix market within the next two years. In April 2009, a 120,000 square-foot, one-level store will open at SanTan Village in Gilbert, AZ. In fall 2010, a 120,000 square-foot, one-level store is expected to open at Estrella Falls in Goodyear, AZ, and a 150,000 square-foot, two-level store is expected to open at CityNorth in the Northeast Valley of Phoenix.

By the end of 2010, Macys will operate 11 stores in the Phoenix/Scottsdale metropolitan area.

We are very excited to expand our presence throughout the growing Phoenix/Scottsdale region, said Jeff Gennette, chairman and chief executive officer of Macys West, the division responsible for the Arizona market.

The fashion and affordable luxury that Macys delivers is important to our customers in Arizona, and these new locations will provide additional convenience and access for our shoppers.

Each of the new locations will offer apparel and accessories for the family, along with selected merchandise for the home. The stores will be designed specifically for the open-air, lifestyle-center concept including a new main street entrance configuration and an emphasis on natural lighting via skylights and exterior windows.

The developer of SanTan Village and Estrella Falls is Santa Monica, Calif.-based Macerich. CityNorth is being developed by The Related Companies and Thomas J. Klutznick Company.

Macys West is headquartered in San Francisco and operates 259 Macys stores in 13 states and Guam.
