A note on tweed in casual-wear

This is an article on Tweed. Tweed, an elegant and understated fabric, is popular for many types of apparel and this articles emphasises the casual-wear market.

Tweed is a rich fabric and it can have a country-side look. One can say 'can' because tweed of course has that countryside aura but one can see that it is a popular fabric with general casual wear. Countryside looks have a maturity, smartness and elegance. Still casual tweed jackets have a smartness too and you can find reasonably priced tweed jackets on online sites like La Redoute.  You can find some smart stylish 'city-girl' look. Notice how a stylish tweed fabric can be used for jackets with styled pointed lapels. Tweed jackets, with lapels rolling naturally into the collar, when pulled up give that snug winter look. Tweed then seems to be suitable for a smart city-girl kind of look as well as the countryside look. It is interesting how tweed is used for this city-girl casual look as well as a more formal countryside look.

When sourcing certain types of country jackets, tweed is one of the obvious fabrics to look for. Certain tweeds can  allow a looseness and overt casualness in the sleeve while evoking a stylishness and formality too. And this is why tweed is popular with 'city casual wear'. It is possibly why one can find reasonable womens tweed jackets online. These jackets may be marketed at certain professionals working in towns and cities.  Yes that looseness and casualness of feel that you get with tweed is important.

Certain tweed jackets may be cuff-less and there is no two-piece or elaboration of any sort on the sleeve. It is just loose and set-in. Such tweed jacket products can be found on online shopping sites such as La Redoute. These jackets are reasonable and maybe another reason that they are such is that they are not true countryside jackets. Countryside jackets can be expensive because they are meant to be durable. However some tweed jackets are just meant to give a certain city-casual look and this why they are ‘reasonable’. Overall they have a look of an elegant city girl. Tweed certainly is a fabric that is important in creating this look. There are of course different types of tweed. There is the popular herringbone tweed.

Of course manufacturers and designers for tweed are aiming for certain types of markets. Some designers may be deliberately going for an elegant casual city look and certain tweeds suit this look. Tweeds can have a washed sort of look and they go well with anything. They blend well with jeans and anything new and fashionable. Even a relatively old tweed jacket may go well with a trendy fashionable jeans and upper top. This then is tweed being used for a certain type of market. But other markets may suit tweed besides the market for trendy casual wear e.g. specifically countryside wear as well as more formal apparel wear.
