Naturally Advanced Technologies Inc. ("NAT" or the "Company") (OTCBB: NADVF), a developer of proprietary technologies for processing and production of environmentally sustainable bast fibers, today announced its participation in the Bio-Fibres Symposium: Binding Innovation to Opportunity, taking place in Edmonton, Alberta, from November 28-29, 2007.
Mr. Jason Finnis, the Company's co-founder and Chief Operating Officer has been invited to present the latest developments in CRAILAR(R) fiber technology, the Company's proprietary biotechnology for processing organic bast fibers such as hemp and flax, two abundant, agriculturally-produced renewable resources. CRAILAR(R) is currently being developed in collaboration with Canada's National Research Council and the Alberta Research Council, and is expected to provide an environmentally sustainable, economically attractive alternative to pesticide intensive and petrochemical-based fibers in a wide range of commercial applications, including textiles and advanced composites.
An initiative of Agriculture and Agri-food Canada, the 2007 Bio-Fibres Symposium is hosted by the Alberta Research Council, and supported by the National Research Council, the Government of Alberta, and the Saskatchewan Flax Development Commission. Commenting on the Symposium, Jason Finnis said, "This is an outstanding opportunity to present CRAILAR(R) fiber technology to a diverse audience of corporations, researchers and governments working toward developing Canada's bio-fibre industry. CRAILAR(R) is intended to establish Canada as a front-runner in the research and development of environmentally sustainable technologies for bast fiber production."
ABOUT Naturally Advanced Technologies, Inc.
