Kids In Distressed Situations, Inc. (K.I.D.S) and partnered charity Fashion Delivers today announced that New York Governor Eliot Spitzer will deliver the keynote address at this year’s annual fund-raising gala, and Sherri Shepherd, the new co-host of “The View,” will serve as mistress of ceremonies. The gala will take place on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at The Pierre New York Hotel.
The event, which is expected to attract more than 650 executives from the fashion, children’s, financial and retail-related industries, will also honor the following three industry leaders for their philanthropic efforts: Abbey Doneger, President of The Doneger Group; Jerry Storch, Chairman and CEO of Toys“R”Us, Inc.; and Artie Rabin, CEO of Wear Me Apparel/Kids Headquarters.
“We are recognizing these industry leaders for their extraordinary commitment to giving back, which has helped enable us to provide disaster relief, improve literacy, and enhance the quality of life of children and families less fortunate,” said Rick F. Schaub Jr., Senior Vice President, Learning Curve Brands, Inc. and Chairman of K.I.D.S.
Allan Ellinger, Senior Managing Partner, Marketing Management Group, Inc. (MMG) and Chairman of Fashion Delivers commented, “We are honored to co-host such an important event that reinforces the significance of corporate giving. We would like to thank all of the industry leaders that have lent their support to Fashion Delivers, as it has allowed us to expand our footprint as the preeminent industry organization that donates apparel and home furnishings product (blankets, towels, etc.) quickly to those most in need.”
