DJ Alexandra Richards, daughter of Keith Richards from Rolling Stones, spinned the discs in the club on RFW closing night.
RFW SS/10, which took place in the Congress Hall of the World Trade Center, was officially opened last week by Alexander Avdeev, the Minister of Culture of Russia with the inauguration of Russian Fashion Museum, an unprecedented nationwide project backed up with Ministry of Culture of Russia. Russian Fashion Museum is the first of its kind in Russia, and it is going to be launched in 2010. The basic collection of the just-created Russian Fashion Museum counts more that 30,000 pieces, including costumes of XV-XX centuries, unique fabrics, fashion sketches, fashion photos, etc. Famous Russian designer Slava Zaitsev donated a few classic haute couture dresses of the 1980s to the Russian Fashion Museum.
From October 17 to 23 RFW showcased the most famous and edgy Russian and former USSR designers who are currently defining Russian fashion: Anastasia Z, Anna Direchina, BIRYUKOV, GS by Sabina Gorelik, Daina by Chistova & Endourova, Dasha Gauser, EVELYN, Hayam Hanukaev, LENA KARNAUHOVA, M.Rimer, Masha Kravtsova, Narciss, KO by Sultanna Frantsuzova, O.K.M., POUSTOVIT, St. Bessarion, SV2, TEGIN, Vassa, Viva Vox, Egor Zaitsev, Elena Souproun, Lyudmila Norsoyan, Fashion House Bouton, PARFIONOVA, Masha Sharoeva, Olga Brovkina, Yulia Nikolaeva, Yulia Sarkisova and many others.
The RFW show schedule included 11 foreign participants this season. On the first day RFW guests witnessed the collection Erin Wasson x RVCA created by Erin Wasson (USA), designer, top model and the face of Maybelline New York.
For the second time RFW was visited by the famous Spanish Agatha Ruiz de la Prada fashion house, internationally well-known for its extravagant juicy-colored collections.
Sonny San, a headliner of the Malaysia International Fashion Week (MIFA), showcased his fabulous sparkling collection on the RFW runway to the great acclaim of the Russian audience. This show was held within the frameworks of the partnership between RFW and MIFA.
On October 22 RFW SS/10 held the Italian Day organized in collaboration with Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI). The Italian lineup of RFW contained C'N'C Costume National, Gattinoni and new upcoming designers (N-U-DE) selected by CNMI - Chicca Lualdi BeeQueen, Mauro Gasperi, Cristiano Burani, Andres Caballero, Gilda Giambra and Leitmotiv. "Moscow is a very important destination for Italian fashion," said Mario Boselli, President of CNMI at the press-conference in Moscow. Ennio Capasa (Costume
National) stated, "Russian fashion will become known when it will be backed up with textile producers." Alexander Shumsky, RFW President said that Italian-Russian fashion-cooperation started 5 years ago and RFW had presented Russian upcoming stylists in Milano Fashion Week this season. "The Italian fashion shows in Moscow are the next step," says Shumsky.
RFW SS/10 shows reached millions of viewers via live broadcast on World Fashion Channel satellite television and on-line Rambler.ru broadcast.
Past years have established Russian Fashion Week as a major date on the world's fashion calendar, just behind New York, London, Milan and Paris. RFW puts Moscow on the global stage every April and October and is supported by the Ministry of Culture of Russian Federation, the Russian Fashion Foundation and the Russian Union of Businessmen and Entrepreneurs.
