Aeropostale, Inc. (NYSE: ARO), a mall-based specialty retailer of casual and active apparel for young women and men, today announced that total net sales for the four-week period ended May 30, 2009 increased 30% to $132.9 million, from $102.3 million for the four-week period ended May 31, 2008. The Company's same store sales increased 19% for the month, compared to a same store sales increase of 6% in the year ago period.

Year to date, total net sales have increased 23% to $541.0 million, from $438.7 million in the year ago period. Year to date, same store sales have increased 13%, compared to a same store sales increase of 9% last
year.

The Company noted that it continued to experience strong customer reaction to its summer collection, and that its merchandise margins for the month increased over last year. The Company also stated that its inventories remain well controlled and on plan.
