NEW CONCEPT FOR SEPTEMBER 2008 GDS

GDS, International Event for Shoes & Accessories, will feature a new concept when it will be held from September 12 – 14, 2008 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf , Germany . After international brands increasingly returned to the trade fair during the past seasons, GDS is using its scheduled move to Halls 1 - 7 to present a fundamental re-launch of its segments: beginning in September, newly classified areas with revised connections will create homogeneous lifestyle worlds and a easier guidance system will offer buyers a further improved and quicker orientation. The hall layout will be based on a clear, modern design. A revised marketing design will highlight the “new GDS”. The GLS trade fair will be completely integrated into GDS and the resulting event will offer a symbiosis between shoes and accessories.

DUSSELDORF�S SHOE TRADE FAIR TRIO CONTINUES UPSWING

The upswing of the Düsseldorf shoe trade fair trio GDS/GLS and global shoes & accessories continued: the three days of the trade fairs were characterized by a busy and satisfied atmosphere, good turnover, avid interest in the presented trends and crowded booths. Compared to the previous year’s event, the number of visitors increased by approximately three percent – 34,000 visitors from 72 countries took part to see and order the collections of 1,382 exhibitors. Almost 50% of the visitors came from countries other than Germany, particularly from the Benelux, France, United Kingdom, Italy, Austria, Russia, Spain and the U.S. Attendees also traveled from as far away as Australia, Japan, Colombia, Panama and South Africa.

WHO:		Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is joined by top LA-based fashion designers Sue Wong, Allen B. Schwartz (A.B.S.) and representatives from Christian Audigier (Ed Hardy), along with the Executive Director of the LA Fashion District, Kent Smith in kicking off LA Fashion Market at a breakfast press conference at the California Market Center.

WHAT:		Los Angeles is fast becoming one of the most important fashion leaders in the world, both in terms of design and manufacturing. L.A. designers are selling in more international markets than ever before and are setting trends everywhere.

		Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will recognize LA's leadership role in the fashion industry at a special press conference launching LA Fashion Market. He will be joined on-stage by several designers who exemplify the different styles LA is known for, ranging from the elegant sophistication of Sue Wong to the hip, trendiness of Christian Audigier, to the eminently wearable, fashion forward designs of Allen B. Schwartz and his A.B.S. brand. Each designer will showcase some of their upcoming styles for Fall '08.
