Seattle-based Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE: JWN) announced that it will add the Mini Boden children's wear collection to 57 additional stores as well its online store beginning mid-February. The fashion specialty retailer is the first store in the United States to carry the British children's clothing brand known for its bright colors and fun sense of style. Nordstrom launched the line exclusively in seven markets in fall 2009.

Nordstrom Reports Fourth Quarter and Fiscal Year 2009 Earnings

Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE: JWN) today reported net earnings of $172 million, or $0.77 per diluted share, for the fourth quarter ended January 30, 2010. This represented an increase of 152 percent compared with net earnings of $68 million, or $0.31 per diluted share, for the same quarter last year.

Fourth quarter same-store sales increased 6.9 percent compared with the same period in fiscal 2008. Net sales in the fourth quarter were $2.54 billion, an increase of 10.3 percent compared with net sales of $2.30 billion during the same period in fiscal 2008.

Nordstrom Rack Coming to Charlotte, N.C.

Seattle-based Nordstrom, Inc. plans to open its first Nordstrom Rack in Charlotte, N.C., the company announced today. The 43,000-square-foot store will be located at the Carolina Pavilion shopping center and is scheduled to open in spring 2011.

The store is the second Nordstrom Rack planned for North Carolina, joining the Renaissance Center Nordstrom Rack scheduled to open September 2, 2010 in Durham, N.C. The state is also home to two Nordstrom Full-line stores--the Nordstrom South Park store in Charlotte, N.C. and the Nordstrom at The Streets at Southpoint store in Durham, N.C.

New Nordstrom Rack to Open in Downtown Chicago

Seattle-based Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE: JWN) announced plans to open a new Nordstrom Rack in downtown Chicago. The 36,000-square-foot store will be located on East Chicago Avenue between North Michigan Avenue and North Rush Street, and is expected to open in Fall 2010.

The Nordstrom Rack will join a vibrant retail, dining, and hospitality presence at this city block location that includes the Chicago flagship Polo store and RL Restaurant, Tiffany & Co., Banana Republic and the five-star Peninsula Chicago hotel.

Preliminary total retail sales of $749 million for November 2009 increased 5.9 percent compared with total retail sales of $707 million for the same period in fiscal 2008.
